Family Zen

Want to explore zen practice with a child in your life? Want to marvel at the sound of children sitting in silence for 5 whole minutes??

Family Zen is an all-ages group that meets the second Sunday of every month at the zendo from 9:30 until about 11:30.

We do an abbreviated version of the full zen service–children serve tea, chant together, then do seated and walking meditation for brief periods of time. We then move on to big pots of oatmeal and fruit salad served family style. After the kids help do the dishes, we move on to a short dharma lesson for the kids. Don’t worry if your child has the wiggles–we are a wiggly bunch.

Every May we have a weekend-long retreat and celebrate Buddha’s birthday with the whole sangha community. Here are some pictures from our May 2012 retreat.

Below is a video of a typical service–please join us!!
